Fundraisers and Community Collaborations
During the 1950s, the Junior League of Fort Worth established two fund raisers: a resale clothing shop and rodeo program sales. The resale clothing shop, now called Double Exposure, earns more than $250,000 a year. In 2007 the Junior League launched the holiday gift market Christmas in Cowtown. It's the season's first shopping opportunity with over 130 merchants from across the country. Junior League members sell rodeo programs at the Fort Worth Rodeo and Livestock Show. Last year, more than 16,000 rodeo programs were sold at the 30 performances.
In 1973, Mayfest began as the Trinity River Festival - a celebration of the Trinity River greenbelt. Over the last 30 years, Mayfest has grown into an annual Fort Worth tradition that typically attracts 200,000 people the first weekend of May.
