NEW MEMBER DEVELOPMENT MEET AND GREET
A new member development meeting will be held October 20, 2010 at 6 p.m. at the Junior League of Fort Worth headquarters at 255 Bailey Avenue for women interested in membership. The purpose of this meeting is to review the requirements and commitment required for women to become members and to answer any questions regarding the application process and the benefits of membership in the JLFW. If you do not have a sponsor, this meeting is required and will be an opportunity to meet JLFW members. CLICK HERE to fill out and submit the Information Form. This form must be submitted prior to the October 20 Meet and Greet.
The Junior League of Fort Worth is open to women who possess an interest in voluntarism, a commitment to community service, and an interest in developing their potential for voluntary community participation.
Eligibility Requirements:
A candidate shall be no less than 22 years and no more than 45 years of age on January 1 preceding her invitation to Provisional membership.
A resident candidate must have lived in the Fort Worth area continuously since January 2010 or have lived within the area for 10 consecutive years at some previous time.
A non-resident prospective member must have had her physical residence within the Fort Worth membership area for ten consecutive years at some previous time and must not have had her physical residence away from this area more than five consecutive years at the time of her proposal. She must live close enough to another Junior League to participate in that League's Provisional training.
Before accepting the invitation to membership, she shall receive information as to the privileges and responsibilities of League membership and shall agree to complete the Provisional Course in Fort Worth or in the city to which she is transferring, at the discretion of the receiving League.
Financial Obligations:
- Provisional Fee (One Time) $125
- Membership Dues $175
- Double Exposure (JLFW Resale Shop) Merchandise Donations $200
Provisional Membership Responsibilities (sample of current course, subject to change):
General Membership Meetings, monthly beginning May 2011 (except June, July & August)
- Welcome Meeting March 2011
- General Membership Meeting May 2011 at 7 p.m.
- 1 Saturday retreat August 2011
- 7 Provisional meetings, 6:30 p.m., first Monday of month
- 9 General Membership meetings, exact dates TBA
- 1 Done in a Day
- 1 Training Session
- Fundraiser shifts: 2 shifts at Christmas in Cowtown,
- Community Collaboration shfits: 2 shifts at 2011 Mayfest, 2 shifts at 2012 Rodeo
- Double Exposure resale clothes shop, 50 hour placement
- $200 Donation requirement to the Double Exposure Resale Shop in merchandise or money
Active Membership Responsibilities
Receive (4) Meeting Credits, which may be obtained by attending the following meetings (with 4 years or less of Active status):
- General Membership meetings
Done in a Day activity - Training seminar
- $50 payment (one meeting only)
Volunteer a minimum of 50 hours in designated placement
Fundraiser shifts
Community Collaboration shift
Double Exposure quota by March 1
Annual dues by March 1
Proposal of Members
There must be a total of (3) Fort Worth Junior League members on a ballot to sponsor a prospective candidate (There must be (1) Active and (1) Sustainer and the third member being either an Active or Sustainer on all proposed ballots).
Application for Membership will be accepted from Monday, Nov. 1, 2010 - Friday, Jan. 21, 2011. Deadline for application submission is 3 p.m. on Friday, January 21, 2011.
All first-time sponsors must attend an Orientation Meeting on one of the dates below at JLFW headquarters, 255 Bailey Avenue:
Orientation Dates for Sponsors : Monday, November 15, 2010 or Wednesday, December 1, 2010 at 6 p.m.
